Ethics Policy
Conflict-Free Diamonds
Butler & Rose, along with the global diamond industry, has a zero-tolerance policy toward conflict diamonds. Our diamonds are responsibly sourced, certified conflict free via the Kimberly Process, and abide by national and international law. The Kimberley Process tracks diamonds from mine to market. It is an industry in partnership with the United Nations, governments, and non-governmental organisations, which polices diamond exports to prevent the trade of illegal diamonds. The Kimberley Process has, to date, 54 participants representing 81 countries. At Butler & Rose, we only purchase diamonds through the largest and most respected suppliers who, like us, proudly adhere to and enforce the standards established by the Kimberley Process. All Butler & Rose diamonds are warranted to be conflict free. If one of our suppliers was ever found to be in violation of that process, we would immediately sever that relationship. We will continue to support and promote any process that works to uphold legitimacy in the diamond trade. Diamonds are mined throughout the world, including major mines in Australia, Africa, Russia and Canada. Diamonds are a major source of good in many African nations, employing and providing healthcare to thousands. For more information on this issue, please visit DiamondFacts.org.
Responsible Jewellery
Butler & Rose observes the highest ethical standards. We insist our business partners do the same. This extends to our gold sourcing. Most of our gold (70%) is recycled. We commit to continuously review our position with the goal of expanding it over time to have the broadest possible impact.
We do not manufacture in overseas factories. All of our product is made-to-order locally by our craftsman, reducing waste and keeping shipping to a minimum. We create a majority of our pieces to order, and we encourage recycling and invite our customer to reinvigorate an old piece or forgotten heirloom to create a contemporary treasure to love now.
Value
We cut excessive margins from the supply chain to offer high quality, responsibly sourced diamonds for a fair price. We are able to show customers how their specific diamond measures up on price compared to a similarly graded diamond.
