This is a watch with the pedigree given the multiple functiosn it offers. The fascinating vintage Kalos Chronograph, a Swiss-made timepiece featuring a moonphase complication and powered by the legendary Valjoux 7734 manual mechanical movement (manufactured from 1969 to 1974 but still continued to be used in mechanical watches into the 1980s). It features a 37mm gold-plated case offering a sophisticated look, complemented by baton hourmarkers and roman numeral 12 on the dial. Most likely an assembly piece following the quartz-crisis, this offers a lot of mechanical horlogy inside one case.
In the 1980s, the charming “smiling moon” motif captured widespread attention among watchmakers. Heuer, Tissot, Chronoswiss, Zeno, and Roamer all released models echoing this whimsical design, each equipped with the Valjoux 7734 and its characteristic moon phase display.
